Grant Overview
Capacity Building for Local Arts Organizations
This funding initiative is targeted toward enhancing the operational capabilities of local non-profit arts organizations dedicated to delivering after-school programs for students. Unlike funding aimed at direct program delivery, this initiative focuses specifically on capacity-building efforts such as technical assistance, strategic planning, and program evaluation. It will not support one-off arts events or funding purely for artistic productions.
For example, a local non-profit focused on theater arts may apply for funding to provide workshops on effective grant writing to help their leadership develop sustainable funding strategies. Likewise, a visual arts organization might seek support for developing evaluation metrics to track student engagement in their programs. Both initiatives underscore the importance of developing organizations equipped to sustain quality programming over time.
Eligible applicants include established non-profits with a history of delivering educational arts programs and a commitment to enhancing their service capabilities. However, applications from start-ups or organizations without a proven track record in arts education will not be supported.
Successful applicants must demonstrate that their proposed capacity-building initiatives align with their mission and directly contribute to improving program efficacy. Moreover, they should provide a clear plan for how enhanced capacities will increase their reach and improve services offered to students. Proposals lacking specificity regarding operational improvements and measurable outcomes are unlikely to secure funding.
Ultimately, by empowering local arts organizations through targeted support, this funding initiative aims to ensure that the diverse artistic traditions of North Carolina are preserved and adequately shared with future generations.
